幾次被同學問到IELTS寫作應該寫成什麽樣子，是不是必須要很難的文法和字彙才能得到高分呢？其實真的不然，下面跟大家一起共享幾篇文章，文字簡單文法扼要，但從評分標准上來說的話7分是毫無問題的。大家向這個方向加油啊！！！共勉！！

Some people think that criminals should be given long terms in prison so as to reduce crime rate. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

From Italy to Iraq, it is not uncommon to see more crimes being committed around the world. Some people have claimed that criminals should be put into prison for longer term so as to reduce crime rate. Personally, I dare not agree that this is the best way to fight against crimes.

No sensible person would deny the fact that imprisonment could protect our society in a certain way. On top of the list might be that it could keep violent criminals away from general publics. Since putting criminals in prisons could kill their chance to violate crimes again, therefore, it could directly make victims feel safer while hearing this. If we know there are violent criminals walking among people, then, we might feel a little insecure. If these criminals are jailed, then, it might just make general public feel simply better.

Despite the fact that prison could help to reduce criminal rate, it should not be the best way to tackle crime problem. High cost to maintain prison system could be the biggest concern. Due to the fact that longer sentence could lead to building and maintaining more prisons, hence, the bill to be covered could add up to be quite scary. A considerate percentage of tax payers’ money has already been spent on maintaining current prison system. To budget more money might be too expensive to be possible.

To sum up, I do believe putting criminals into prison for longer period could help to lower crime rate. However, this should not be our only straw to tackle crime problems. Only if more preventive measures could be taken can we truly solve this problem before it happens.
